The Client
The client for this event was Entourage Live. Entourage Live are an events management company who specialise in corporate events. Entourage hosted an event in Kent for the multi million pound Business Astrium in 2009. Astrium invited company employees from all over Europe to the weekend’s event in gratitude for their hard work during the year.
Event History
This event is held on an annual basis with the host country changing each year. Defensa were delighted to have been chosen to supply the 2009 event held within the UK.
Space plays a crucial role in our daily lives, in security and defence, protecting the environment, scientific and technical advances, telecommunications and a host of everyday services – and where there’s space, there’s Astrium.
Number 1 in Europe and no. 3 worldwide, Astrium employs 15,000 men and women in five countries: France, Germany, the UK, Spain and the Netherlands. 15,000 professionals chosen from among the very best, all passionate about space and driven by the great adventure of our time.
The event boasted a huge Circus style big top and seating for approximately 2000 guests, live bands played on its stage in the evening and there was a kitchen big enough to feed thousands serving some of the best and diverse cuisine available.
Our Solution
Defensa provided the security and stewarding for this event and along with the management created a safe and pleasant environment for all Astium employees.
Event Build & Break
Due to the intricate setup of the event “build” started 7 days prior to guests arriving, Defensa staff were deployed on a rolling 24 hour basis ensuring security of the site and its contents. These staff lived on-site for the duration of the event build, strike & break.
Show Days
With the high profile nature of this event Defensa staff were deployed to cover a number of areas, this included; pit staff for the live acts during the evening, Response teams to assist with any physical incidents, stewards to act in 2 roles meet and greet front of house & general crowd safety, manned guards to assist with traffic & site security and a managerial & supervisory team to oversee the running of the event. Due to the torrential rain over the course of the event Defensa staff were deployed to assist with the safe movement of Astriums guests from the shuttle buses to the Big top.
Results
The event was one of the most creative and well thought out corporate events the Company has ever had the pleasure of attending. Entourage Live praised the professionalism of all Defensa staff and their ability to successfully manage and implement the event plan during some of the worst weather seen in 2009.
Defensa management received special commendations from the senior management of Astrium and again were praised for our efforts in creating a pleasant and safe environment for all that attended.
