Cuckfield Bonfire Society
November 2009
The Client
Each year Cuckfield Bonfire Society attract over 15,000 spectators, all keen to see a truly massive bonfire, adorned with guys made by children from Holy Trinity School, coupled with thousands of pounds worth of fireworks exploding in time to music delivering a wonderful aireal display, the event is held within the beautiful grounds of Cuckfield Park within Cuckfield’s Elizabethan manor house.
Event History
The event was started nearly 20 years ago with the aim of raising money for the village school. The event has grown over the years and is now one of the biggest of its kind in the region, the Bonfire and Fireworks Display used to be organised by the PTA but due to the growth of the event it has needed a separate Bonfire Committee.
Our Solution
Defensa have supplied the event security and crowd management for the Cuckfield Bonfire Society for 2 years, after training the committee staff in 2008 and preparing & delivering a management plan Defensa are delighted to say that 2009 was the largest and most successful year to date.
Defensa staff were deployed in a number of areas during the evening including ingress gates for the 15,000 attendees, response and general stewarding duties ensuring a safe and pleasant environment was maintained throughout the event.
Results
The event was again was a huge success and attracted members of public from across Sussex and suburbs. Defensa are proud to be associated with such a professional setup and feel the Cuckfield Bonfire will continue to go ahead for many years to come. Defensa have already been contracted for 2010
