LEEFEST

The Client
LEEFEST is an independent, yet professional one day music event which takes place every summer in Beckenham, Kent. It’s an independent family friendly event, Boasting 3 stages and an outstanding line up for an event of its size.
Event History
LeeFest began in a back garden in the summer of 2006 when a group of friends decided to showcase some of the local musical talent to the young people of the area. Since its creation, the festival has grown steadily in size and popularity. 2006 saw 150 guests pack out a back garden and raised money for ‘Teenage Cancer Trust’. In 2007 the numbers almost doubled to 250 people and a cracking day of music helped raise money for ‘Save the Children’. 2008 took LeeFest to a new level, beating everyone’s expectations with 700 people gathering in a local field on the hottest day of the year to see over 20 acts and raise over £1000 for ‘Age Concern’. Now in its fourth year, and with a confirmed 1,500‐person capacity, LeeFest ’09 dwarfed last year’s event and took the festival to dazzling new heights.
Our Solution
Defensa Management team were able to put together a small, but effective security & stewarding team for the event. Defensa also supplied free training to the festivals volunteer stewards allowing them to understand their job roles and how they would be required to integrate with the security team should a critical incident be called.

The event was a huge success, the professional attitude of the security staff and their understanding of this type of event allowed good interaction with the public and staff alike. The festival organisers have already commited to using our services again in 2010.
The security team were also praised on the Festivals event forum by members of the public for their assistance during ingress and throughout the event.
Results
On the day Defensa met the aims and objectives of the event organiser, liaised well with local police and created a safe and secure environment for the public attending
